Joseph Rowell joined North Avenue Capital as Chief Operating Officer in 2015 where his expertise in financial services, organizational development, investment operations, business development, and strategic planning contribute to his responsibility of running the day to day operations of the business and the execution of all packaging, underwriting, and servicing functions. He comes to NAC following extensive operating experience in high profile positions at major investment institutions.
Prior to NAC, Joseph was the Director of National Accounts for Regency Lighting where he closed more than $5 million in new business during his first full year in the position. Key to his success was Joseph’s ability to understand the needs of and identify solutions for his customers, many of which are Fortune 500 companies. Joseph worked with executives, government organizations, contractors, architects, and manufacturers to develop and execute strategic lighting projects with a focus on return on investment, lighting design and energy savings.
From 2003 through 2012, Joseph was the Director of Service Development for Wells Real Estate Funds, where he provided leadership to the Client Services team tasked with providing support for a $10 billion commercial real estate portfolio. His daily focus included coaching, training, career development, performance reviews and day to day oversight in order to enhance a culture of excellence, hard work and extreme camaraderie. In his role, Joseph also worked with executive leadership across the firm to, among other things, ensure ongoing compliance with the ever-changing regulatory environment, review all marketing material and communications for operational accuracy and consistency, and develop a formal process for inter-departmental career advancement that led to the promotion of over 45 team members into roles within every other department of the company.
In addition, Joseph was a member of the Wells University faculty, presenting to over 3,000 financial professionals on the firm’s unique service model, worked with the Shareholder Services Committee of the Board of Directors, developing and reporting on key performance indicators, and served as a Board Member for the Wells Political Action Committee.
Prior to his departure, Joseph managed ongoing relationships with many of the largest financial institutions in the industry for significant and historic projects, including consulting on the operational structure and implementation of the initial public offering of a $4 billion company affiliate.
From 1997 through 2003, Joseph worked on the Investment Operations team at Ronald Blue & Company, LLC where he transitioned the management of $2.5 billion in assets under management to Fidelity Investments Institutional Brokerage Services. In this role, Joseph served as the operational liaison between RB&Co.’s nationwide branch offices and Fidelity’s Institutional leadership team.
Joseph Rowell is a graduate of Georgia State University where he earned both an undergraduate degree in Finance and an MBA. He previously held the Series 7, 63, 65 and 24 FINRA securities licenses.
Joseph, Elizabeth, and their five children, Cameron, Andrew, Carley, Benjamin, and Jacob, live in St. Augustine, Florida. Joseph’s broad experience in financial services, organizational development, sales and service have opened the door for him to serve in various advisory roles with a number of small businesses and non-profit organizations, including a 4-year appointment to the St. Johns County Industrial Development Authority Board in 2016. The Rowell’s attend Redeemer Church in Ponte Vedra, Florida, where Joseph serves on the Board of Trustees.
