Canon Hicks joined North Avenue Capital (NAC) in October 2023 as a member of the Banking Development Program associated with NAC’s parent company, Veritex Community Bank, headquarters in Dallas. During his first four months with NAC, Canon worked closely with the loan architects and the business development team to help the processes of underwriting as well as sourcing new loans. In January of 2024, he was hired full-time as a Portfolio Specialist on NAC’s servicing team.
Previously, Canon attended Texas A&M University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Sport Management while working for the men’s basketball team as a student manager under head coach, Buzz Williams. After his senior year, Canon stayed at Texas A&M and earned a Master of Financial Management degree through the university’s Commercial Banking Program, which led to an internship with Veritex. After graduating in December 2022, Canon joined Veritex full-time, rotating through multiple lines of business, including commercial real estate and community banking.
Despite moving to Jacksonville, Florida from Dallas, Canon still keeps close watch on how his favorite NBA team, the Dallas Mavericks, is doing throughout the season. He also enjoys playing golf, running, and traveling in his spare time.
