Borrower Story: Speedsportz Racing Park

International kart racing champion, Alan Rudolph, sees much of the world in his rearview mirror. He routinely leaves his competition in a position of pursuit. With a career of accomplishments on the track, Alan has turned his attention to the pursuit of his dream – Speedsportz Racing Park at Grand Texas.

Having received a USDA Business & Industry Loan for construction and early-stage operations, Speedsportz Racing Park at Grand Texas and the Alan Rudolph Racing Academy have joined forces to create this premier kart racing destination.

Alan’s partner, seasoned developer Tim Crawford, found himself on the racing circuit, too, as he supported his son’s growth as a young talent in the sport. By combining their collective experience in kart racing and utilizing Tim’s background in real estate development, the pair has created the United States’ first two-track facility. Tim commented:

“We are passionate about and focused on bringing the premier racing school and entertainment destination to metro Houston.”

The world-class track and Alan Rudolph Racing Academy will not only attract enthusiasts from across the country, but Speedsportz’s presence near one of Houston’s most affluent business and residential communities positions them well to attract both corporate, novice, and thrill-seeking clients. Alan added,

“This is a dream come true for our team, with many years of planning and preparation leading to this pivotal moment.”

Speedsportz’s prime location is a mere 15 miles from Bush International Airport in Houston. Grand Texas is a budding entertainment district and already has the infrastructure in place for growth. This includes a place for the forthcoming water park, outlet shopping center, and RV park, along with plans for a number of hotels, restaurants, and other retail storefronts.

Alex Louis, a Managing Partner at North Avenue Capital, led the lending effort for Alan and Tim. Louis had this to say on the deal,

“The USDA B&I program offered the ideal structure for Speedsportz. We’re all excited to see a start-up venture like this succeed in bringing jobs, economic development, and a new set of thrills to the Houston suburbs.”

"I look at North Avenue Capital as a partner. I feel like I could not have done it without the whole team. If someone came to me with an idea, or concept, or project and was talking about financing, there would be nobody else I would send them to."
